영국의대 인터뷰 준비하기.
영국의대 대부분은 학생선발을 위해 인터뷰를 한다. 합격의 가능성을 높이기 위해서는 인터뷰를 미리 준비해야 한다.
인터뷰 형식은 각 의대마다 상당한 차이가 있다. 면대면 인터뷰가 진행되는 곳이 있기도 하고 인터뷰 패널이 있는 곳도 있다.
십분이면 끝나기도 하고 한시간이 넘게 걸리기도 한다. 하나 이상의 인터뷰를 할 수도 있다. 인터뷰는 점점 더 객관적인 기준을 가지고 보는 경향으로 변해가고 있다. 학생들은 특정 선발 기준에 따라 평가되기 때문에 인터뷰 준비가 이전보다 더 중요해졌다.
영국의대 인터뷰 질문들.
인터뷰 준비를 위해서는 여러가지 질문에 답을 준비할 필요가 있다. 그러하고 정답이 있는 마냥 외워서는 안된다. 자연스러운 답변이 나올 수 있도록 준비를 해야한다.
미리 준비된 답변은 학교에서 좋아하지 않는다. 대부분의 의대에서 질문하는 것은 비슷한 편이다. 내가 누구이고, 현재 무엇을 원하는가? (이때 UCAS에 올린 자기소개서는 잊어버려라. 심사자들이 모두 UCAS에 올린 것들을 기억하고 있지는 않다.), 왜 의사가 되고 싶은가? 의사가 될 적성이 있는지 알아보려고 어떤 노력들을 했는가?
직장경험이 있다면 그곳에서 무엇을 배웠는가? 의료 분야의 직업에 대해 현실적으로 이해를 하고 있는가? 다른 사람들과 소통하기를 좋아하는가? 등을 중점으로 인터뷰에서 물어보게 된다.

100% 나올 거라 장담할 수 있는 질문은 왜 의사가 되고 싶은가 인데 여기서 변형될 수 있는 게 왜 간호사, 생물학자 그리고 의사가 되고 싶은 이유와 연관된 직업들은 아닌지 입니다.
이 질문에 대한 답은 버스 안에서, 거울 앞에서 계속 연습해야 합니다. 간혹 이 질문이 합격 여부를 좌우 할 수 있거든요.
ERIC : 거울 뿐 아니라 실제 지인들에게 부탁해서 가상 인터뷰 (Mock Interview를 추천합니다.
이 질문 제대로 대답만 하면 입학 합격 받을 수 있다고 말할 수도 있고 반면에 대답을 잘 못하면 불합격이라고 말할 수도 있을 만큼 중요한 문제입니다.
그 외 대부분 문제는 생물 관련 그리고 윤리 문제일 것입니다. (간혹 최근에 있었던 의학, 과학 이벤트에 대한 것 일 수도 있고요). 또한 여러 면접 유형이 있습니다. 방금 말씀 드린 전형적인 20분 패널 인터뷰 (2-6 교수님) 외에 당근과 채찍 및 다중미니면접 방법이 있겠네요.

인터뷰 답변하기.
인터뷰는 앞에서도 말을 했지만 외워서 하라는 이야기가 아니다. 전형적인 인터뷰 질문에 어떻게 대답을 할 것인지에 대한 큰 그림을 그리고 있어야 한다. 그래서 준비할 질문이 들어왔을 때 자신감있고 효율적으로 답할 수 있어야 한다. 예상하지 못한 질문을 받을 수도 있다. 이런 질문에 대해서는 너무 걱정할 필요가 없다. 시간을 가지고 곰곰히 생각해서 답변하면 된다. 솔직하고 진실되게 임하고, 질문의 내용을 이해하지 못했으면 면접관에게 설명을 부탁하는 것도 하나의 방법이다.
건강뉴스 챙겨보기.
인터뷰에서는 학생이 정한 건강관련 뉴스를 개괄적으로 설명하고 그에 관한 이슈들에 대해 논의할 수 있다. 그리고 그 주제에 왜 관심을 가지게 되었는지 설명을 요구할 수 있다. 미리 영국에서 논의되고 있는 건강관련 뉴스를 꼭 챙겨봐라.

HYMS Interview

Each year we interview approximately 600 candidates. Our interviews for 2018 entry will take place during December 2017 and January 2018.
Our Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) process is a carefully structured sequence of stations, which can take place in any order.
A semi-structured interview, with two interviewers, lasting 10 minutes.
There will be up to three key questions and you may be asked to expand on your responses. Each interviewer will score your responses separately using a prescribed set of grade descriptors.
A second, semi-structured personal interview, also with two interviewers and lasting 10 minutes. There will be no more than three key questions during the interview, but interviewers will ask you to expand upon your responses. Each interviewer will score your responses separately using a prescribed set of grade descriptors.
A ‘Scenario Station’ lasting 5 minutes. In the room there will be an actor and two assessors. As soon as you go into the room, you will be in the scenario. The assessors will not take part; their role will simply be to observe and score this station. An actor will be present playing a character and you will need to interact with that person in the same way you would in real life. The actor will be playing a character other than themselves but we want you to be yourself. Please do and say what you would in real life – you are not being asked to take on a character other than yourself, and we are not judging your acting skills. No medical or special knowledge will be required – we are not testing specialist knowledge.
A group interview lasting 20 minutes. The aim of this group activity is to allow a 'live' assessment of your ability to work effectively with your peers. You will be scored on your contribution using a prescribed set of grade descriptors, by an experienced problem-based learning tutor and one other trained assessor.
During the whole MMI, we will be observing and scoring you in the following areas:
